Hello fellow Villagers!
I hope this finds you feeling strong in body, mind and spirit. I miss seeing all of you and your children.
Last week, I laughed when my calendar reminder dinged “Gala tomorrow.” My first thought was, “Oh I’m so glad I’m not scrambling to get donations turned in right now” but upon some reflection, I was sad to think we weren’t all together. The Gala has always been more than a fundraiser to me; it is a chance to celebrate our community’s hard-work and accomplishments of the year while we enjoy a childfree night out as friends.
As friends, we continue to connect despite our shelter at home status - from rejoicing with birthday parades to commiserating about the amount of snacks our littles are plowing through, from collaborating with our teachers to provide structure for our littles to sharing tips on how to find time to work and teach and cook and clean and care for the new sourdough baby.
As friends, we continue to connect because the strength of our school relies on the strength of our community. We truly are Brighter Together. And while we couldn’t be together this year for the Gala, we can still come together to help raise money for an Emergency Fund* to help our friends. Some families in our Maple Village Community are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 and I know that our combined efforts will help to cover deferred or forgiven tuition payments for those families.
To date, our families collectively are short $30k in tuition for this school year. The Board anticipates that number to increase and many families already aren’t able to enroll for next year or pay full tuition due to financial strain from this pandemic. Let’s do our part to help keep our community intact and enrolled for the next year.
If your family’s budget allows, we are asking that you Give Instead of Gala. Let’s donate what we would have spent on tickets and babysitters and drinks and Uber and auctions and stand and pledge. Let’s donate to help our friends.
With gratitude on behalf of the fundraising committee,
*An Emergency Fund has been set up to help defray the costs of deferred tuition for families experiencing hardship. If your family is experiencing financial strain due to COVID-19, please email Board of Trustees to receive the protocol to apply for assistance.
