Every year, GISH Scavenger Hunt participants come together to “Change A Life,” uniting to make a profound difference in the lives of people facing extraordinary hardship. Over the years, Gishers have fought injustice, supported Rwandan genocide survivors and Syrian refugees, and cleared unexploded bombs to protect people in Laos. We’re proud of Gishers’ work in these Change A Life efforts, and every year we scour the globe to spotlight the one story or group that most deserves your focused attention.

But in 2020, that’s been a unique challenge: around the world, our collective lives have been impacted by a pandemic, economic hardship, and natural disasters. We’re at a crisis point and so many people need help right now — including many Gishers themselves. So for this special Halloween Haunt, we want to turn the spotlight on everyone… including you.

Fortunately, we know some folks who can help us do that.

This year, we’re celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Random Acts, Misha Collins’ charity and our sister organization. Random Acts strives to “conquer the world, one random act of kindness at a time” by empowering people to help each other. Over the past decade, this 100% volunteer-run organization has taken on ambitious projects like building a children’s center for orphans in Haiti and helping Syrian refugees, but they also help in less high-profile ways that still mean the world to someone, like buying sneakers for a child experiencing homelessness. No matter the size of the project, the central purpose of Random Acts has always been to facilitate kind people helping one another. So in this moment of historic crisis, we want to pool our resources and build up the fund that empowers you to help those most in need in your communities: the General Fund.

The Random Acts General Fund supports a wide variety of Random Acts projects, including the Acts Program. The Acts Program empowers anyone in the world to do an act of kindness in their own community. Maybe you want to help your local animal shelter, an elderly neighbor who needs a new heater before winter, or a family who just needs some groceries to get by. You can apply for an Act to get funding and help them!We know that right now, everybody is struggling and things might get even harder before they even out. So for this Change A Life, we’re pointing our global army for good at Random Acts’ General Fund so we can fund countless acts of kindness around the world — and because you can apply for an Act yourself, this will empower Gishers to help those in need in their own communities.

Join us in celebrating Random Acts’ 10-year anniversary and help our GISH Family & Random Acts to continue to do good for years to come, no matter what the future throws at us. Thank you for your support!

We know that times are tough for everyone, so here’s your mission: Show Random Acts some 10-year love! Get at least 10 people who are NOT ON YOUR TEAM to donate $10 each to Random Acts. ($10 for 10 years… See what we did there?) You can, of course, chip in more — and your team can chip in, too, if you want. But that’s not the requirement for the Item! The only requirement is that you persuade 10 other people to chip in. Submit a screenshot of your Crowdrise page showing your donations to get your points. Double Bonus Points for the teams with the top 10 donations collected!

Together, we can not only celebrate Random Acts’ 10 year milestone, but we can come together to help those who are struggling the most right now within our own community… and empower Gishers to keep the kind Acts coming, too.

Let’s do this!

1. Random Acts General Fund, which supports the Acts Program for acts of kindness around the world.

2. General Fund Acts are also used to make up for shortfalls in funding in destination projects such as the Jacmel Children’s Center and the Free High School in San Juan del Sur, and upcoming projects Random Acts has coming. (You’ll see. It’s cool.)

DONATIONS ARE 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE AND 100% OF THE DONATIONS GO TO THESE EFFORTS (for countries other than the U.S., deductions are contingent on your laws).
