Girls On The Run®: $1000 sponsors 1 Girls on the Run®/STRIDE Team. Girls on the Run® uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living with interactive activities such as running, playing games and meaningful discussions culminating in a 5K run. Girls in third through eighth grades learn a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement and team building skills to help them become strong and self-confident. The Y believes that every child should have the opportunity to participate. Scholarships are awarded so that no child is turned away due to inability to pay.
We believe that every girl can embrace who she is, can define who she wants to be, can rise to any challenge, and can change the world! Each year, 20% of girls participate on scholarship, Will you help support girls in your community?
What is GOTR?
Girls on the Run uses running and other physical activities as a platform for teaching life skills and promoting holistic health outcomes for girls in grades 3-8. The curriculum is designed to enhance girls’ social, emotional and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences.

WHY is it so important??
-Girls’ self-confidence begins to drop by age 9.
-50% of girls ages 10 to 13 experiences bullying such as name calling and exclusion at a time when peer relationships become more central to girls’ lives.
-Physical activity levels decline starting at age 10 and continue to decrease throughout adolescence.
