Every season at TiAnViCa Riding Academy, we open our doors to thirty or more girls which are part of an at-risk youth program in our community. These girls come from different backgrounds and nationalities, all simply looking for an opprtunity to start a new chapter in their lives away from the circumstances which brought them to our gates. Searching for new frienships, forgiveness, new beginings and the ability to move on with their lives. At TiAnViCa they are paired with an equine which becomes their friend and confidant. They spend time grooming, walking, exercising and at times riding the horses. During their time here they are part of a program which teaches discussion and introduction of life skills, with interactive group discussions and expected participation. Hands on participation, interactive horse activities and verbal processing activities. We work on character traits, community, teamwork and tolerance. During each activities the girls interact with the horses, volunteers and staff to instill understanding of boundaries, safety, and respect. The girls also become volunteers in one of the programs geared towards special needs riders, so they are able to provide assitance to others and see the outcome of a positive interaction with those whom we serve.
