Both boys decided to come into this world early because their energy just couldn't be contained any longer!!! For their birthday we decided more toys isn't what they needed (bc they have plenty and then some) but to give back to those who may be starting their entrance into this world like they did!!! September is NICU awareness month and we want to make sure as many precious babies enter this world safely and have the care they need!!!
Jonathans NICU story isn't mine to tell but he was born at 35 weeks and had lung issues upon arrival. He is now doing exceptionally well and lung issues are barely existent!!! He is turning 7 years old and is now in the second grade. He loves playing with his little brother and is just as energetic. He recently started guitar lessons he attends weekly so he can be like his Papaw!!!
Bailey was born at 36 weeks from the result of a spontaneous placental abruption. We were whisked off to the OR to have an emergency C-Section. I will spare you the gory details (if you haven't already heard them) and say he had difficult with his lungs not quite being ready to work completely on their own. He was intubated shortly after delivery for almost 24 hours and given lots of special medicines and treatments. The NICU team was amazing, not only in caring for Bailey but us as a family. I was far from feeling 100% and every time i was over in the NICU they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. They set me up a room divider for privacy to work on breastfeeding, the frequently made sure to refill my water to stay hydrated, they answered my million questions, and they kept me in the loop on everything. We are forever grateful in the care they provided us. Today Bailey is a energetic, outgoing, intelligent toddler turning 3 and has no problem using the word "NO" haha!!!
