The opportunity to climb this incredible mountain is not something that everyone has the ability or chance to do. When I travel, I am always struck by how simply many people live, but how very HAPPY they are doing so. There is more to this world than material things, but many people don't even have clean water and basic health care, let alone material goods. It hurts my heart to see these people, humans just like me, working so hard to survive. I am blessed by a strong and able body as well as the drive, time, and means to travel. This is a great responsibility and a gift and I want to use this opportunity to help others survive and thrive and go on to live happy, healthy, and full lives.
This will probably be the most difficult thing that I have ever done in my life - but I welcome the challenge! We selected a locally run company, Green Paw Adventures, who donate 10% of their profits to local groups, to do our trek with, but I want to magnify and and expand on this. We are SO insanely fortunate in our lives and lending a helping hand to others is the least we can do. So, I decided, why not try and make this a climb with a purpose more than just reaching the top of a landmass?!
Jeramy and I can't wait to conquer Kili and I hope you will join us on the journey! We realize that this can be an expensive time of year, but why not give fewer material things this year and instead, enrich the lives of others and your own karma too. :) Even if each of my FB friends gave $5, I would raise over $3000!
