Your support can help Rochester students to learn and grow through the singular Stage Door Project - one of Geva's most innovative educational programs.
In this unique program - the only one of its kind in the country - high school students work side-by-side with their professional counterparts as both teams prepare to perform one of Geva's Wilson Stage productions.
Right now, Bishop Kearney students are preparing to perform the award-winning musical Once, directed by Paula Steffen and supported by Geva's professional cast, crew, and staff. The student production will appear on Geva's Wilson Stage on Monday, March 9 at 7:30pm - with families, friends, and the professional cast there to cheer them on from the audience.
Bishop Kearney is a private, Catholic school nationally recognized for providing a quality college preparatory program. At Bishop Kearney, high-risk urban students become college-bound successes, superbly prepared to continue their education and ultimately give back all they are capable of giving to the community and the nation.
Nearly half of Bishop Kearney's diverse student population resides within the Rochester City School District. More than 75% of our students receive some level of needs-based tuition assistance.
Tuition covers only about two-thirds of the full cost of providing an education that results in 100% graduation and college acceptance.
Through the Stage Door Project, Bishop Kearney students have more than an opportunity to perform: they access a transformative experience that helps young people to cultivate strengths and skills that will influence their lives for years to come. As a past participant put it:
"I observed how the professional cast and company give each other respect to create art, and to learn and grow. We, the students, did that - because we saw them do that."
Geva's educational programs spark inspiration and learning in nearly 20,000 students each year. As Rochester's biggest nonprofit theatre, we commit to providing educational opportunities in order to connect and enrich our city.
These experiences are only possible thanks to support from our community.
