I pulled BELLA from Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center March 11, 2019. She had been through hell her whole Life. Even though she is unable to articulate her past, her broken body tells the story.
She was emaciated to the point that she was eating rocks to stay alive, heart worm positive, hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infestation that was causing severe diarrhea. She was enemic and had multiple broken teeth, as well as wounds in various stages of healing. Bella was broken! A woman that was a friend of one of my frIends that lived in Pennsylvania, reached out to me and told me how she had been following her story and she felt like Bella was her dog. She decided she wanted to adopt BELLA and paid for Private transport from a very trusted Animal transporter. Bella arrived in Pennsylvania on Thursday, June 6. Initially, everything was awesome, and then an incident happened between BELLA and her small dog. She did not introduce them properly, and long story short, BELLA went after their small dog. The dog is OK, but immediately after that happened this woman completely Turned on BELLA, Her husband even threatened to kill Her. This woman knew the risk, and clearly didn’t have a Plan B. Shockingly enough, this woman also expects me to pay to get her back to Florida. Right now she is in boarding in Wilmington, Delaware . I am paying for that until she can get back down here safely to me. In my 15 years of having my rescue I have never encountered something like this. I don’t do a lot of out-of-state adoptions, but when I do there is always a connection where I know someone. After this, unless I know someone personally and they are a very good friend of mine ,I will never again do an out of state adoption. Once Bella gets back to Florida I have to board her for 3 weeks, due to the fact that I Have no foster homes available and my house is full to the gills. Bella will never go through this kind of trauma, ever again.. not on my watch.
