You can help us keep the wheels turning to provide professional theatre, literacy, top-notch theatre education and life-changing experiences!
●The VCT4TEENS Tour is a critical health education experience for teens in our region that is supported by regional schools and health partners. This issue-based play travels to high schools and middle schools, and will travel by request to schools or community centers outside the Roanoke region. This program serves 3,500 youth each year.
● SML Good Neighbors program teaches theatre education to elementary school children and helps them learn valuable life skills. Through SML Good Neighbors and SEA programs, VCT provides free summer camp and after school programs to 300 elementary students at schools in the Smith Mountain Lake area. These students are some of the most economically disadvantaged in our region and lack access to the arts.
● As part of our educational outreach mission, VCT offers SOL-compliant in-school residencies as a theatre enrichment option for schools in our community. The Residency program serves 3,000 to 4,000 elementary students each year in predominantly Title 1 schools, those most at-risk for low academic performance. Other outreach includes theatre education programs in Clifton Forge and Martinsville
●Each year VCT hits the road in spring and summer to bring live professional theatre to communities across the state. The tour travels to 50+ venues from Covington to Irvington and all parts in between - 5,000 youth and families are able to experience the excitement of a lifetime!
