Get Team NYC to the Nationals

On February 8th from 5PM-8PM, Coffee Project NY's new Long Island City location (21-10 51st Ave.) will host a fundraiser ($35) to raise money for six Glitter Cat baristas who will be competing in the upcoming 2020 National U.S. Coffee Championships. (Glitter Cat is a not-for-profit that trains NYC baristas for coffee competitions.)

Tickets, which cost $35, entitle entrants to sample five coffee beverages, one from each baristas station. The drinks served will be the same ones the competitors will be offering in their respective competitions.

What: A coffee tasting fundraiser to support Glitter Cat NYC Competitors at the U.S. Coffee Championships

Why: Because competing in coffee competitions is expensive and these competitors, some from marginalized communities, need our support to both help get them there and equip them to compete.

Story

The competitors (listed below) from five highly regarded New York City’s coffee shops, will compete in one of three competitions: The Barista Championship, The Brewers Cup and, Coffee in Good Spirits. The funds raised will be distributed evenly among the competitors and go to defray their travel and lodging during the competitions and toward coffee brewing equipment to help them compete.
