My name is Ellie Hasenberg and I am 14 years old. I attend the Charles E Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD. For school, every 8th grader gets to take part in a program called Capstone. We choose a problem in our society and world, and find ways to help. We get to take three different actions. One of my actions is raising money for girls in Afghanistan so they can go to school. It costs about $58 for one girl to go to school. 3.5 million children are out of school in Afghanistan and 85% of them are girls. I am hoping to send 10 girls to school so that they can have a chance. It is just as important for them to go to school as it is for me. A lot of the time I don't even understand how lucky I am but I am trying to give other girls the chance to 'get lucky' also. They deserve it just as much as I do. I would appreciate it very very much if you could help donate to a cause that is so important today and spread the word about my fundraiser. I am also selling silicone wristbands for 3$. If you would like to buy one, that money also goes to help these girls go to school. Please contact ellie.hasenberg@cesjds.org or (202)-322-2340 if you are interested. Girls in Afghanistan need education more than ever so please help this cause.
