On Saturday July 27th I'll be walking the 5K route again this year, in the 10th Anniversary Run to Home Base. The Run to Home Base is a unique fundraising event through Boston ending with the unbelievable experience of crossing "home base" (plate) at historic Fenway Park. The Run to Home Base honors Veterans and helps raise much needed funds for Home Base, a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital. Home Base helps Veterans, Service Members and thier Families heal from the Invisible Wounds through world-class clinical care, wellness, education and research.
Your donation will make a direct impact in the lives of Veterans and their Families served by Home Base.
I have pledged to raise a minimum of $500.00 but have set my personal goal at $1000.00 So I need your help.
Please don't delay. Your help is vital.
You can make a tribute donation if you like by adding "in honor of" or "in memory of" I will be making ribbons and attaching them to my jersey for each name called out in a tribute donation.
Why this particular event means so much to me:
As some of you know I was a Navy dependent and then a Navy wife for over 10 yrs., stationed at a variety of bases on both coasts. What you don't know is that while stationed in Norfolk VA with HM-18 our squadron lost a helicopter and all personnel onboard. Even though I didn't know them all each one was still part of our family and one was a close friend. His wife and children often visited our home and it was devastating for them to lose their Patriarch. I saw firsthand a families lose and how the recovery team was affected.
Helping military members and their families struggling with unseen injuries is what this organization is all about. 2017 marked the 25th anniversary of that fateful day. I wasn't able to attend the dedication ceremony but I am honored to take part in this endeavor and hope you will sponsor me in whatever way you can.
Large or small every penny is appriciated! If you want please forward this and spread the word. I want as many people as possible to salute and help our veterans.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
With love and gratitude,
