Since 1947, South Bay Children's Health Center (SBCHC) has offered help and hope to underserved families in need of quality health services for their children. Studies show that children with unment mental health needs are more likely to do poorly in school and to be suspended or expelled. In later years they face lower educational achievement and greater involvement with the criminal justice system. Untreated oral health issues can also have negative and lasting consequences on a child's life. Dental disease, if left untreated can lead to unnecessary pain, missed school days and low self-esteem. Early intervention through access to quality, affordable oral and mental health services can vastly improve a child's health and life.
Your support of our 5th Annual Champions for Children 5K Trail Run/Walk will help to ensure that underserved youth from birth through age 24 can receive vital, life changing and in some cases life-saving care and support in our local clinics and within the community. These services are delivered by skilled, quality, compassionate dental and mental health providers that specialize in the needs of children and teens at high risk for poor mental and oral health. Your support of our organization and of our Champions For Children event this year will make an impact that is far reaching and will last for years into the future.
