Both last year and this year, I entered the lottery for the Chicago Marathon and was rejected. This year I have taken matters into my own hands in a big way!
I am very excited to announce that I will be running the 2019 Chicago Marathon as part of Team Boomer, a program of the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF)! BEF is an organization that encourages people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to incorporate exercise into their daily lives.
As many of you know, finding a cure for CF and, in the meantime, allowing those who have it to thrive is a cause near and dear to my heart. Nineteen years ago, I lost a dear friend to the disease. I'm going to give this marathon my all in memory of my friend, John Bednarski, to honor him. He was one of the kindest souls I've ever known. So . . . soul to sole . . . here we go!
If you're at all able, please consider donating to BEF on my behalf and on behalf of all of the CF patients who long for a better life. Every little bit helps!
