UPDATED 9.9.19 - I've hit my fundraising goal of $5,000! But please help me raise an additional $1,000 in my last 4 weeks of training!
On October 13th, I will run my third … that’s right … THIRD marathon – the Chicago Marathon – alongside my Team Boomer teammates!
Over the past two years, I've joined with Team Boomer to run the NYC Marathon in 2017 and the Chicago Marathon in 2018 to support finding a cure for CF and important research and patient programs for the CF community. I raised over $16,000 for the Boomer Esiason Foundation during those two races – and I’m ready to take that number even higher this year.
Help me break the $20,000 mark this year! Please help me to reach my goal of raising $5,000 to find a cure for CF!
As in NYC and Chicago, I will run this race for 26 incredible and inspiring CF patients. Their names will be written on my arm – each of them giving me the will and determination to complete all 26.2 miles! Meet my CF support team of 26 amazing individuals below!
In case you don’t know … cystic fibrosis causes persistent lung infections and limits a patient’s ability to breathe over time. While breakthrough treatments have added years to the lives of people with CF, there still is no cure. It’s time to change that!!
Team Boomer is a program of the Boomer Esiason Foundation that encourages people with CF to incorporate exercise into their everyday lives, supports a CF scholar-athlete specific scholarship, and contributes to the efforts being made to find a cure for CF and to help people with CF live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
All money raised will go directly to support the work of the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
I'm absolutely thrilled to share my CF Inspiration Team – each one of these 26 Cfers, ranging in age from one to 40, has a unique story but they are all bound together in the fight to cure Cystic Fibrosis. From nine-year-old little drummer and songstress Lainey in West Virginia to 40-year-old Somer Love in Utah who has educated and inspired the world about CF through her #lovetobreathetokens program, I am truly humbled and honored to run for each of these 26 individuals. For the first time, I also am running in memory of a CF patient, Cody, who passed away from CF at the age of 23. Her mother reached out to me and said that "our sweet Cody would be in your heart for one mile."
