Who would have guessed that a week after we ran Celebrate Life Half Marathon a year ago on March 8, 2020, that the world would literally shut down and be forever changed? Definitely not me! Life as we knew it shifted in ways that we never could have imagined. Yet, as we entered a pandemic some things did not disappear, like cancer. It continued to rear its ugly head regardless, challenging cancer warriors and their families in ways they never could have imagined in terms of accessing treatment and caring for loved ones. And here we are, one year later still standing strong beside them, and in some cases honoring the lives that have been lost because of cancer.
Why Celebrate Life Half Marathon? 100% of the donation and race proceeds benefit cancer patients in treatment in offsetting their financial needs. CLHM is an annual event that bonds survivors and families in triumph. Celebrate Life honors, remembers, and celebrates those who have fought against cancer. We run because we can. We run because we must. We raise money because cancer sucks and there are people whose lives will be touched for the better through your donations.
No one is immune from cancer. No one. Again, I will be running with the names of your loved ones--family, friends, co-workers, neighbors attached to my race belt so I can bring you and them along with me for 13.1 miles. I choose to embrace their radiance, courage, and the limitlessness of their spirits.
I have not run a live race since Celebrate Life Half Marathon 2020. Given the past year, I can think of no more fitting comeback live race than Celebrate Life Half 2021. Together I join with runners, including 30 NewRo Runners, to prove that life is precious, worth living to its fullest and that we are compelled to CELEBRATE LIFE every single day. Take nothing for granted. Please give generously.
To your health & happiness,
