Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Awareness is the first step to combat stigmatized social justice issues such as human trafficking.
I first heard about human trafficking at a camp I attended two years ago, the summer before 8th grade. Since then, I‘ve supported Amirah Inc by doing donation drives and bake sales in my town. I am excited to participate in Amirah’s annual Hike for Hope campaign for the first time.
I am hiking Mount Washington to support recovery for survivors of sex trafficking who are being served at Amirah Inc. Mt Washington is the tallest mountain in New England; it is 6,288 feet high! I hope to finish in under 8 hours. Every step up Mt. Washington is dedicated to the women served at Amirah.
Amirah Inc is a New England based nonprofit that provides Tier-3 safe homes for victims of human trafficking. Amirah is Arabic for "princess," a name that denotes the strength and value that comes with nobility. Trafficking is defined as “using fraud, force, or coercion for the purpose of exploitation.” Amirah partners with the FBI to recover these women. Their physical, mental, emotional, social, vocational, and spiritual needs are nurtured at Amirah until they are integrated back into society. You can learn more about Amirah and their annual Hike for Hope campaign at AmirahInc.org
We are committed to raise $3,000 by August 31st. Please support our team and share this with your family, friends, and foes! ;)
“It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life... use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom.“ (Galatians 5:13-14 MSG)
This quote was the inspiration for our team name. We are encouraged to keep fighting for freedom.
