Love shouldn't hurt. 1 in 4 women report domestic violence abuse in their lifetime. For Christmas, my goal is to raise $300.00 for The Spring Of Tampa Bay. The spring is the first domestic violence center in the United States to have an accredited public school on emergancy shelter campus tso resident families have more options for the safety and emotional support for their children.
The Spring’s mission is to prevent domestic violence, protect victims, and promote change in lives, families and communities. Since their founding in 1977, the Spring has provided a safe haven and comprehensive supportive services to more than 60,000 abused adults and their children, and we’ve answered calls all hours of the day and night from well over 150,000 women in crisis.
The Spring Of Tampa Bay is a 128 bed residential facility in a secure location, providing temporary shelter for individuals and families. The typical length of stay is six weeks. The children living there are eligible for on-site childcare, elementary school, after school programs, summer camp and tutoring. REsident children attend groups to learn about safety planning and healthy relationships. The connect survivors to healthcare services, facilitates health and wellness groups, coordinates community health resources and trains medical professionals on how to recognize and respond to signs of domestic violence.
THE PET PORGRAM
As victims of domestic violence prepare to leave their abusers, many fear for the safety of a pet. With community partners, The Spring provides a safe and confidential location for pets to stay while their families are in shelter.
Please consider donating this season to help support victims and survivors in this community, 300.00 can provide essentials to those in need at this shelter. I will also be contributing 700.00 to the shelter and I hope to raise 300.00 to donate 1000.00 which can help over 20 families.
