Hello Friends and Family,
About a year ago I decided to start volunteering with Furkids. I had no idea how much I would love being a part of such an incredible organization. I have always loved all animals and had a family pet. My volunteer work started with me working at a local Furkids shelter in Petsmart. Over the past year I have fostered a few kittens, and had a foster “fail” (a foster “fail” is when you go into it expecting to foster, but fall in love and can’t bear to bring it back). I prefer to say that I became a fulfilled foster. Brian and I adopted our foster kitty, Mouser Moo. I wish you could see Brian and Mouser watching football together.
Those of you who know Brian, know that he loves to always be busy building or repairing something. When I heard the new Furkids new shelter was looking for volunteers to help build, landscape, etc. I knew just the person to help, Brian. Brian has also joined the Furkids family by using his building skills.
A few weeks ago I was part of the intake volunteers when Furkids rescued 88 cats from a hoarding, neglect and abusive situation. It was life changing for me to work alongside these amazing volunteers, who at the time were strangers to me, to save lives.
As you can see this journey for me is just beginning. It feels so good to be a part of something that you are passionate about and care so much about. To give to something that can never repay you is a wonderful thing.
I have never done a fundraising campaign, but I felt this one really mattered to Brian, me and most importantly the animals that need Furkids the most.
Please consider making a donation. If a donation is not possible, consider volunteering or getting involved with Furkids. Brian and I can promise you that your heart will be filled.
Below is the mission of Furkids. Pleases take the time to read it and help to support Furkids future.
Sincerely, Valarie and Brian
Furkids is a sanctuary for homeless animals and people who love them. We rescue defenseless animals; provide medical care, emotional nurturing, and training; and match them with families in forever homes. Our volunteer programs provide healing and growth for people who are strengthened by the human-animal bond.
How You Can Help
All are welcome at Furkids. We depend on our network of adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors, and thrift store patrons, so join our family today. We offer a wide variety of programs and opportunities for people of all ages to get involved with animals in need. Come socialize with our animals through the FurTales reading program, join our foster program to help provide a temporary loving home, or join our TransFur team to help transport animals to our northern no-kill shelter partners. If you’re ready to make the commitment to adopt, we encourage you to visit our shelters or many adoption centers to meet our cats and dogs. Additionally, you can visit our three thrift store locations in Peachtree Corners, Lawrenceville, or Marietta. Help us connect people with animals to save lives.
