On behalf of the Barksdale family, Living Classrooms is raising funds to cover the funeral service expenses for Dante "Tater" Barksdale, who was tragically taken from his family, our City, and the world on January 17th.
Dante was an early team member at Living Classrooms’ first Safe Streets site in McElderry Park in 2008 before he transitioned in 2013 to become the new Outreach Coordinator for the Baltimore City administrative Safe Streets team with the Health Department, and eventually with
the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice in City Hall. Dante was a profound and skilled conflict mediator who worked tirelessly around the clock, to promote peace and help find alternatives to violence in neighborhoods throughout Baltimore City. His commitment to turning his life around and using his own experiences to save other lives was inspiring and very effective in his important work. The loss of Dante has devastated all of us. The Safe Streets team will continue to lean into the work of reducing violence and stopping shootings and killings, knowing that Tater will be with us in spirit.
We hope you will consider a contribution to help cover the costs associated with the funeral service. Your contribution of any amount will directly benefit the Barksdale family for this purpose. Your generosity is greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
