Tiff’s Place provides vacation lodging for families with a member who has a neurological condition – putting entertainment, joy and excitement into their lives, while providing necessary equipment to safely support those with disabilities. In keeping with our mission of 100% full ADA compliance, Tiff’s Place is crowdfunding to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van to provide mobility to guests residing with us. We are working with MobilityWorks® for this – a national chain of wheelchair accessible van providers that serve the disabled community with wheelchair-accessible minivans, full-size vans with lifts and commercial fleet vehicles.
Tiff’s Place is proud to announce that a dream which began in August 2013 is soon to be a reality. My daughter, Tiffany, suffered from Duchenne's disease, a rare form of muscular dystrophy. She read an article in a publication about a place in Dublin, Ireland, equipped with everything anyone would need if they had mobility challenges. It is called Home-From-Home. We spent 12 days in Ireland, enjoying all the sights. The Zoo, John Kennedy Arboretum, Trinity College, Dublin Castle, the Titanic Museum. This amazing trip was only possible because Home-From Home was 100% accessible for Tiffany in her motorized wheelchair. Very quickly we saw the benefit for families unable to enjoy vacations because of the lack of appropriate accommodations existing in the United States. While sitting at the breakfast table one morning after our return, Tiffany and I decided we would look for similar locations in the US. To our surprise there simply were not any. We decided we would change that. Although Tiffany is no longer with us, the dream we shared together is becoming a reality in the form of Tiff's Place, soon to be an American home-away-from-home for those with neuromuscular disease and other similar conditions, as well as wounded veterans and their families. All of these underserved members of our society are welcome to vacation with us free from worry about adequate accommodations or other logistical concerns.
