Hi friends! I am going back to Mbale, Uganda for the fourth time this year - how fast time flies! This year, I am excited to spend more time at the district hospital, including teaching medical students and pediatric residents adolescent health topics.
I am thrilled to keep volunteering with Atlas International, an NGO that supports medical clinics, hospitals, and community projects in eastern Uganda. The projects Atlas supports includes clinics, schools, women's savings groups and microlending, training for health care professionals in Uganda, and much more. You can find more information on their website: http://www.atlas-international.org/what-we-do. What I love most about Atlas is their cooperation with and respect for community partners - projects are driven by local partners. There is a special focus towards increasing local capacity by strengthening already existing health systems. If you know me, you know that I have high standards for transparency and ethics when I donate money, and Atlas meets all my very high standards. Any money donated goes directly to Atlas International and community partners (ie, not for my travel or my expenses while volunteering).
Please consider making a small donation for a great organization, and thank you for reading!
