On July 23, 2018 Santa Fe received a record 3.57 inches of rainfall – approximately 25% of its annual average – in one night. The 1000-year storm flooded homes and businesses throughout the city. Between July 23 and August 3, the City received 571 calls and have determined that at least 297 homes and 22 businesses suffered damages ranging from minor issues to completely destroyed properties.
The Santa Fe Community Foundation has created the FUND FOR THE FLOOD to respond to critical home repairs such as destroyed flooring, carpeting, drywall, roofing, and windows. Through the program, low-income households may apply for funding either online or at physical locations. The Fund must reach 10k before the application process opens.
