Honoring the Fry Family
In our own family, ALS has befallen five (5) people, four (4) of whom have succumbed to this illness in a span of more than two decades. Our father Thurman Bill Fry passed away in 1971, our paternal half-brother, Jerome Copeland passed away in 1986, our paternal first cousin Mary Grace Williams Massey passed away in 1997, and a second brother Thurman Ray Fry passed away in 1998. The most recent victim of ALS in our family is our nephew Steven Fry, who was diagnosed with this disease in 2016 at the young age of 34. Steven's story is incomplete, and one that has inspired us to become activists for the cure of ALS. That is why we are hosting a fundraising event in the honor of all our relatives whose lives have been cut short by this disease. We want to provide information, promote awareness, and contribute to the ALS Association, an orginization that is effective in providing help to the afflicted in the swiftest way possible. Steven and other patients like him have benefitted from various philanthropic groups like the ALS Association of Texas.
