Who Could Use a Friendly Nuzzle Right About Now?
Friendship Pet Food Pantry, a volunteer-run program of the Friendship Center (a Chicago-based food pantry), provides dog and cat food to people with pets who are struggling to make ends meet. Watch our video to learn more about our efforts.
Spring and summer is when we're usually cheering on local veterinary offices competing to see whose clients can donate the most food. But this year is different: in-person fundraisers, street festivals, and pet food drives that sustain the pantry have been put on hold indefinitely.
So we’re asking everyone who has ever experienced a pet's devotion to join our GoFundMe campaign to raise money for dog and cat food for neighbors in need.
More people out of work means more people are struggling to afford housing, food and care for their family members, including furry ones. Many of our clients are seniors — their pet might be their only family.
The lines on distribution day are longer than we've ever seen. We don't want to turn away anyone facing the additional stress of wondering if they can continue to care for their cat or dog.
If you're in a position to give, here's how you can help:
* $15 provides food for one cat for a month
* $30 provides food for two cats or one small dog
* $50 provides food one large dog
* $100 provides food for two large dogs
Any amount is welcome. All donations go toward the purchase of pet food and kitty litter for individuals and families in need, including those most affected by COVID-19.
No one should have to decide between buying food and medicine for themselves and feeding their animal companion — especially when we need them, and they need us, more than ever.
Thank you for your support. Virtual pet hugs & kisses for everyone!
