Dear VBFS Community,
We are excited to kick off our 2019-20 Annual Fund with our first "Friendsgiving Week!"
Our Annual Fund, not unlike other independent schools, is a fund that bridges the gap between the revenue the school receives from tuition and our operating expeses. As this is a period of regrowth for Friends, we are looking to show how stong our community is by having 100% participation.
Why is 100% participation important?
The school’s financial strength is dependent upon the participation of all members of its constituency. Participation sends a strong message of support for the school and our students as well as our governing bodies (Virginia Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Independent Schools). In addition, many grants that the school applies for requires a proof of 100% participation among their community.
How much should I give?
You are the only one who knows how much you are able to give, and we ask only that you give to the best of your ability. Every gift is important (no matter $5 or $5,000) and sends a message of strong support for the school and our students. While your children are enrolled at VBFS, we do ask each family to make the school a philanthropic priority.
During this week only, we have a matching gift being offered from members of our School Committee of $7,500. We would love to be able to take advantage of that $7,500 and raise a total of $15,000 with 100% participation from our community.
