No matter what time of year or what's happening in the world, you can count on the Shawnee National Forest to lift your spirits and feed your soul. Hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, biking, horseback riding, jeeping, chasing waterfalls, birdwatching, picnicking . . . the list goes on.
Now, more than ever, Friends of the Shawnee National Forest, a nonprofit organization, needs your help. Your support will allow us to continue our work with the Forest Service on programming including conducting trash blasts, graffiti removal, fishing derbies, and more. We have also worked to maintain trails and re-sign the River to River Trail in conjunction with other groups in the area. These are just a few examples of how the Friends use your contribution to our organization in order to help keep the Shawnee National Forest the wonderful place we all enjoy – the only national forest in Illinois!
The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we all do things. Our major fundraising event is normally a dinner with live entertainment and a silent auction, but due to the uncertainty regarding holding large gatherings in enclosed spaces, we have decided to hold this GoFundMe instead. We will continue to plan our November 13 event as a gathering to enjoy an evening together if circumstances allow.
Please donate now to help provide necessary funding to continue our important work. Share, share, share with your friends, family, and colleagues! Every bit helps, and we thank you!
