You need friends and your friends need you.
I am very excited to share that I will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon as a member of Team Framingham and fundraising for the Framingham Public Library.
Boston Marathon is more than just another running race. It's not just another 26.2 miles across 8 cities in Massachusetts. It is much more than that. It is truly something special. It is sweat and tears of its participants, it is a rich history behind every mile and every turn, it is joy and happiness coupled with sorrow and despair in light of recent horrific events, it is millions of dollars raised for good cause. It is an event that transcends boundaries and helps to unite, conquer and bring meaningful change.
Everybody has their own story that leads to Boston. When I first heard about the Boston Marathon I was not in my best shape, having not trained for over 4 years and not even dreaming about running a full marathon one day. My fiancée (then girlfriend) asked me whether I would start running consistently again if she got me marathon entry as my birthday present. Little did she know that it is not that easy to get a spot in this race!
A year after that I just got up from the couch and started running. Two months later, I lost about 45 pounds. Eight weeks after in Philly I ran my first marathon. And I said to myself then - I really want to run Boston, I don't know how, I don't know when, but that absolutely has to happen. How they say IF YOUR DREAMS DON'T SCARE YOU THEY ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH. Get scared and dream big, everyone.
And here I am today, telling you my story and there is a glowing 2020 Boston Marathon ribbon on the top of this page. It is a great honor for me to be running for Team Framingham and supporting Friends of the Framingham Library. Think global and act local. That's why I feel so empowered to help out a local organization that could possibly impact the lives of people in a meaningful way.
Let me tell you something - the guys from the Framingham Library are just AWESOME. It's not your typical boring library, it is a vibrant community that helps local residents learn, strive, explore and just have fun. Let me give you just a few examples of what they do:
- Interested in learning new skills? You can borrow a DSLR Camera and start learning photography and videography and then come back to edit your pictures using Adobe Creative Suite at the creation station.
- Into music? You can borrow an electric guitar or ukulele and rock away with your friends
- Feeling adventurous? Stop by and pick up a GoPro set and a camping tent
- Wanted to watch the last cool TV show or a movie? Framingham Library already has Chernobyl mini-series and new John Wick 3 movie in their movie gallery
And it is only a small part of cool services, events, and resources available to all visitors. Framingham Library is much more than a place to get a book - it is a community center to help residents excel in so many ways. And like any other non-profit organization, Framingham Library heavily relies on the help of donors to continue empowering the community.
Today, I turn to you my friends for help. Even a small donation will go a long way for a small local organization. Please consider making a donation on my CrowdRise page.
I deeply appreciate your genuine help and generosity! Thank you!
The Friends of the Framingham Library take an active interest in the development and use of the Library, focus attention on its needs as well as its services to the community.
The Friends are in it for the long run..
