Thank you for considering a donation to our Johnston High School PTO. Our mission is to support the staff at JHS through Classroom Grants and Staff Appreciation. We raise funds through the sales of Spirit Wear, payment of dues by parents, and charitable donations by parents through Friends of JHS PTO and contributions set up by parents through their employers.
Approximately half of our expenditures are for Classroom Grants. All high school teaching staff have the opportunity to submit a grant request for materials they would like to use in their classroom that aren't covered by the building budget. In the past, we have purchased:
Permanent frames to display student work in Art class
Nature guides for Outdoor Learning Environment
Film and camera supplies for Photography class
Raku kiln for Pottery class
Various equipment for Special Education classes
Spanish novels for Spanish class
Books for Literary Circles for Language Arts classes
We also love to surprise our staff with meals during the longer Parent Teacher Conference days, monthly mailbox treats, and ToGo containers for our annual Holiday Cookie Walk. Since our 2020/2021 school year is starting out a bit differently, we are working on alternate surprises for our teachers in the place of our usual (but temporarily banned) Staff Appreciation plans.
