We have been riding the bus and going to school with Brody since last year. We heard the news that he had been diagnosed with cancer and wanted to do something to support him and his family
In March 2019, Brody was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Because the tumor was attached to his spine, surgery was not an option. Instead, months of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation were required.
Difficult for any 8-year old child, it’s even more so for Brody because he is autistic. Typically a child who prefers his day-to-day routine, it is a constant struggle for him to deal with the uncertainty of what each day can bring. He has not been able to attend school. Since social skills and peer interaction are typically difficult for him, this time away from school will be a task to recoup.
Today, with all of the chemo and radiation behind him, Brody will now begin extensive physical therapy to attempt to reverse nerve damage caused by the tumor. His family has every hope for a positive outcome and do all they can to surround him with love and support. We would like to lessen the financial burden this has placed on Brody’s family so they can continue to get him the help he needs.
