We have everything we need. The greatest gift we could recieve (other than you being there with us for our wedding day!) is giving back to a program that does so much for the animals in our community.
In lieu of gifts, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to Friends for Life animal shelter. Friends for Life is the only LEED-certified, no-kill shelter in Houston. This amazing organization gives dogs and cats (a lot of which would be deemed "unadoptable" at most shelters) a second chance to be loved, no matter how much time or medical care that might involve.
Our dog Nylon was a senior, and had been with FFL for nine months when we found her. She's truly the light of our lives and we can't imagine waking up in the morning without her. Considering her age, how long she had been in the program, and the fact that her face looks mildly pitbull-ish at the right angle, she probably wouldn't have made the cut at a traditional shelter. But FFL never gave up on her, and loved her hard until we were ready to take her home -- and they love keeping up with her now on Instagram! (@nylonthewonderdog)
Not only does FFL provide adoption services, they also run a variety of programs designed to keep pets in good homes. These programs include behavioral training assistance, a pet food bank for those in need, free spay/neuter services for animals in low-income communites, and much, much more.
This organization has brought so much joy into our lives and does amazing things for the animals of the city. We can't wait to see more dogs and cats smile because they got a second chance!
