The Freehold Area Open Door Advocacy program is a fully donor-supported non-profit for the residents of the greater Freehold NJ area most in need. We receive no government assistance and rely on your donations to deliver on our mission.
That mission states: In order to affirm the God-given dignity of all individuals, Open Door seeks to aid all the greater Freehold area residents in need to achieve their goals of self-sufficiency.
Our program members have traveled difficult roads in life, many recovering from illness, addiction as well as domestic abuse and violence. Their plights have left them on the brink and in the shadows. Some are homeless while others are facing eviction. Yet each of them faces every day with the courage to continue forward. And they know our program is one of the few agencies they can turn to for help when things are most difficult.
Self-sufficiency means rent, fuel, clothing, prescriptions, utilities in addition to food, which our Pantry is more known for within the community. It means helping support individuals and families in any way we can to help keep them afloat.
From our inception and with thanks to all our donors, the program has been able to link families to the resources they need for support like ongoing counseling services and energy assistance while also providing the financial support that’s critical to keep them in their homes, with working utilities, and often with life saving medications.
And now, during this unprecedented time, the resources available to these individuals and families are slowly dwindling just when they need our help more than ever. Many families that were once living paycheck to paycheck lost those paychecks overnight. The uncertainty of the everyday is now even more daunting, impacting every member of their families.
That’s why we’re asking for your help now more than ever. We can now ALL understand uncertainty in a way we’ve never experienced before. It’s extraordinarily challenging for those with safety nets to face. Imagine now facing it down with nothing to help or catch you as you are falling.
Please consider donating in service to our mission. Every dollar goes straight to those in need. No amount is too small. And no gesture goes without gratitude.
