Ainsley's Angels of America is super excited to be spreading awareness through activism! Together, We Shall ensure the thrill of rolling with the wind and crossing a local road race finish line!
Enjoy this testimonal from Calvin:
Until I met Shue Vang (friend w/ muscular dystrophy), I have to be honest, I knew very little about what people w/ disabilities have to struggle with on a daily basis. Simple things that we take for granted such as just hopping out of bed or getting into a car can be a challenge for a disabled person. To work together w/ an amazing team of adventurers to wheel and carry Shue to the top of Angels Landing in Zion this summer was not only very gratifying but opened my eyes to the challenges that the disabled have to face. Our team of friends would like to give people like Shue and others w/ disabilities the opportunity to participate in adventures that they would otherwise not be able to experience!
We have a running race coming up in a few months and Shue is on board to join us- however a half marathon distance cannot be done w/ a regular wheelchair. A specially designed running chair is needed and as I looked at options- they were quite expensive! Then I discovered Ainsley's Angels! They are an amazing organization that has a neat program for fundraising for running wheel chairs for those with disabilities so they can participate in run races.
If we are able to raise $1500 and the donations are tax deductible, this organization will ship and equip us w/ our own running wheelchair. Our goal is two fold- We intend to use this chair to bring joy and happiness to our friends who are disabled. Secondly- we want to bring about more awareness for the disabled.
Please help us make this dream come true!
