MY name is Jeff Baldwin, and I am a 47 year-old man from the town of Saxis Island, Virginia, which has a population of approximately 200 full-time
residents. I currently live in the same house with my mother, to whom I am a caregiver.
My interests and hobbies are music (playing guitar and keyboard instruments),
crocheting, avid reading, collecting movies and coins. I'm currently divorced with
My current conditions are diabetic neuropathy (which effects the peripheral
nervous system of my legs due to poor circulation), thoracic epidural lipomatosis
(a rare spinal condition that effects the movement and coordination of my legs),
and osteoarthritis of both knees and left hip. Needless to say, all these conditions
effect the way I exercise. Prolonged walking can be very painful, depending on
the day. I also suffer from severe depression, which can limit my ability to get
motivated to exercise, I'm only a beginner athlete, but with this chair, maybe I can
advance a level or two.
A grant award for purchasing this chair would not only improve my physical
health, but my mental health as well. This would also remove the barrier of not
being able to exercise.
