I didn’t know Jim Foley personally, but his life inspires me in some small way almost daily. I remember watching his story unfold before the nation and waking up to the world of conflict journalism. I have always held journalists in high regard, but prior to Jim, I’d never given a thought to the individual human beings who risk everything to report back from conflict zones around the world.
In this error (yes, I did that on purpose) of “Fake News” we find ourselves living in, and with the world seemingly growing more and more tense, I firmly believe we need our journalists now more than ever. That’s why I’m running: to support our American conflict journalists compassionately reporting the truth of the human plight in conflict zones across the globe.
I so appreciate you taking the time to read this; I hope it inspires you to learn more about Jim Foley, his incredible life, his powerful family, and what being a conflict journalist entails. (Check out the HBO documentary, Jim: The James Foley Story). And if you’re so inclined, I whole heartedly appreciate any contribution you can make to this campaign! All funds go directly to the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation, which advocates for and promotes the rights of independent American conflict journalists, fights for the safe return of American hostages, and educates the public to the threats facing them and their freedom of speech.
From the bottom of my heart, thank y
