After 15 years of providing free live steam train rides for children of all ages, the Saint Louis Live Steamers have been asked to leave Kircher Park in Eureka, Mo. for flood control walls. We have enjoyed your company and the smiles on your faces. Now we face the difficult task of tearing apart our 4,500 feet of trackage and moving everything into storage until we can locate a new home base for our operation. We are actively seeking higher flood free ground to establish a new home. We would appreciate any assistance, physical or monetary to help use move and store our heavy equipment. We project a cost of $10,000 to $20,000 to relocate and store all our equipment, plus another $50,000 to rebuild 15 years of work, once we find a new home. The moving expense will include the rental of a 5 ton crane to load and unload flat bed trucks to haul our two 40 foot containers to a storage area, plus our bridge, turntable and transfer table used to load heavy locomotives from trailers to the steaming tables where we fire up the steam locomotives. We will incurr an unknown amount of storage costs depending on how long it takes to secure a new home.
To this end, we have established the Go Fund Me account to help you support our efforts. We appreciate any donation, no matter how large or small. We cannot wait to have a running train again and see the happy and excited faces that visit us. Our club is a class 501 (c)(3) organization, therefore your donations can result in a tax deduction for you. Please visit our Facebook page for more action photos.
Thank you, Carl Briggs, Secretary
