In the summer of 1990, the Telluride Repertory Theatre was formed. The rag-tag bunch of trained and untrained actors would gather to put on their first ever Shakespeare in the Park: A Midsummer Night's Dream. From there they would go on to build a theatre company that has spanned three decades. While the company specilizes in experimental original work, song and dance, community storytelling and theatre education, the foundation on which it was all built is Shakespeare. For this summer, our 30th year of Shakespeare in the Park, we happily return to the woods, with a wonderful play about love and freedom in simpler living, As You Like It. And we are asking, you, our generous mountain community, to help make it FREE for all audiences. Your donation is tax-deductable and will help to make this 30th Anniversary of Shakespeare in the Park one filled with magic and possibility, in a time in our human existance which we most-certainly need these things.
(COVID-19 Note: Telluride Theatre has worked closely with the San Miguel County Public Health Department and the Telluride Town Parks and Rec staff to ensure a top-notch theatrical experience, complete with social-distancing and a myriad of safety procedures in line with County and State regulations surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our audience is our number one prioroty.)
