I am now a two-time survivor of a relatively rare form of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma — bile duct cancer. First diagnosed just about five years ago, I had major abdominal surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy. “No evidence of disease” for four years, then a recurrence early last year. Twelve rounds of chemo have knocked it out again, but this is a very persistent disease. I have recently returned from attending the annual conference of the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) in Salt Lake City. The Foundation is a tremendous organization that supports the efforts of researchers and clinicians working on this challenging disease, as well as supporting patients and caregivers. The folks at the CCF tell me I may be the first patient to run and raise money for the Foundation! Slow and steady is my motto! Thanks for your consideration.
