Glenn Paige and Michael Lawrence will be pushing "Fred" the whole 26.2 miles to hopefully make him the oldest Marine to complete Marine Corps marathon. T. "Fred" Harvey is a World War II Paramarine, which was a specialized combat unit of the United States Marine Corps. He fought in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and Iwo Jima. His combat career ended on that island when he was severely wounded by multiple hand grenades and for which he received the Silver Star Medal for saving the life of a fellow marine. His life after the war has been one of mentoring, service and education around the world as a teacher and coach of track, baseball and football. He has been a role model and mentor for almost a century, as he will turn 97 years old in October. We hope to make him the oldest Marine to ever complete the Marine Corps marathon this year, the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Please help us by considering a donation to Ainsley's Angels (501 (c)(3) charity) to create a custom designed Fred Harvey Marine Corps racing chair. It will be used for this race and by future particpants, in his honor, to remember his service and sacrifice for our country and freedom. All funds raised in excess of cost of his chair will go to his favorite museum, National Museum of the Pacific War.
