I'm participating in a write-a-thon with more than 50 other poets, friends, and backs to raise money for Mass Poetry, a unique non-profit that seeks to bring poetry into the lives of children and adults across Massachusetts and the world.
Mass Poetry just celebrated the 10th annual Mass Poetry Festival, one of the largest festivals of its kind in the country. Through its Raining Poetry and Poetry on the T programs, it brings poetry onto the streets and into the trains and buses of Metro Boston. Mass Poetry also brings poetry into the schools, with Student Days of Poetry and professional development courses for teachers.
As an MFA candidate at Lesley University, I participated in a pilot collaboration between Mass Poetry and Lesley to become a Certified Poet Educator in Massachusetts.
With a contribution of $100, you would be able to sponsor a single day of Student Poetry in a classroom. Donations of any size are appreciated, and they contribute toward the many programs Mass Poetry offers. To sweeten the deal, as a donor you also get to take part in the poetry I write. I will share one new poem each week with donors, as well as reflections on my writing process.
Thanks in advance for your donation.
