This is the 4th year of us, as a family, participating in the Kannonball Fun Charity Rally! This rally supports the Northern Voices school in Roseville MN, which teaches deaf children how to speak and listen using their cochlear implants and hearing aids. Children start at the school as early as 9 months old. The goal of this school is to prepare these children to start kindergarten with their hearing peers at their neighborhood school. Since deaf children can't hear themselves speak, their speech development is severely delayed or non-existent. After a child undergoes a cochlear implantation (or is fitted with hearing aids), they can begin their journey at Northern Voices. The school uses no sign language, as it can be a crutch for children to communicate without their voices. These kids work so hard to interpret the sounds coming from their devices.
Northern Voices is a private school that receives zero funding from the state. They rely solely on grants, tuition, and donations to operate.
Please consider donating to this great cause!
