In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Meet Sasha and his mother. They had to flee the territory of hostilities in eastern Ukraine (Donetsk). It saved his life but at the same time, they lost everything: housing, work, things.
Now they live in Kiev, in a hospital. They have been living here for two years. To pay for their rooms, his mother cleans room at the hospital.
But Sasha is very sick. In addition to cerebral palsy, he has intestinal colic and esophageal erosion. He is unable to digest food.
The doctor has now prescribed him a special formula which is very expensive. They cannot afford to purchase this themselves.
Can you help us purchase formula for Sasha?
