Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance.
Cassie is 16 months old and lives with her parents in the Philippines. She has been diagnosed with Acquired Prothrombin Complex Deficiency (APCD), which is a serious bleeding disorder in infants related to a deficiency of Vitamin K. Vitamin K helps blood to clot and prevents serious bleeding. This condition resulted in Cassie suffering a brain hemorrhage. She has secondary microcephaly and developmental delays. She is unable to suck and swallow safely so has a nasogastric tube to receive nutrition.
Cassie's father has been unable to work during the pandemic and they have been unable to purchase formula for her.
We want to support this family during this difficult time by purchasing formula, diapers, feeding tubes, syringes and liquid vitamins for Cassie.
