Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance. MK is a very special little girl from the Philippines. She is 22 months old. She was born with hydrocephalus and a frontal meningoencephalocele. (A meningoencephalocele is a type of encephalocele, which is an abnormal sac of fluid, brain tissue, and meninges (membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord) that extends through a defect in the skull.) MK had a VP shunt inserted to drain fluid from her brain in 2019. Her neurosurgeon advised that further surgery to decrease the size of her head would be extremely high risk and would likely cause further damage to MK's brain or even death. Our neurosurgeon agreed. So her family decided to not take the risk. They decided what is best for MK is for her to be loved and cared for at home. So this is what they are doing. She is a very loved little girl. We want to help provide MK with essentials she needs to be comfortable and maintain her health. We are raising funds to purchase formula, diapers, vitamins and baby food for her. Can you help?
