Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.
Meet the adorable Ryu! He is 4-years-old and was born with an occipital encephalocele (an encephalocele is a neural tube defect characterized by sac-like protrusions of the brain and the membranes that cover it through openings in the skull). This means he has a sac-like protrusion on the back of his head. The skin covering it is very thin and fluid leaks from it. His scalp is often dry and flaky. He recently had an MRI and his family are looking into surgical options.
He lives with his mother and her partner. They have no running water or toilet in their home. They currently have very little income due to the pandemic.
We want to help them during this difficult time by purchasing formula, diapers, creams, ointments and waterproof pads for Ryu. Can you help?
