Our next client was only 14 years old when she was victimized while in foster care resulting in an unexpected pregnancy. After moving from one foster home to another and being victimized again she "aged out" of the system and was found by street outreach living in an abandoned building with her children. She was brought to a local homeless shelter and the
story began to unfold. When asked her name she replyed "Baby girl Powell" at first the caseworker thought she was mistaken, but not only was she a victim of an outdated system...SHE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A NAME! She now has a name, it is Mia. She and her boys are getting birth certificates, she is enrolled in Jobs Corps. and will be working toward her diploma and skill training and eventually will be able to be placed into gainful employment. We finally received the paperwork to provide a move-in day for her to furnish her apartment where she is currently living with nothing but an air-mattress and a toddler bed for her son.
Every portion of your donation will go to provide new items, defer move-in costs and provide a "spa day" for our client on the day of the move-in! Thank you for your support and check back onFacebook and Instagram under the Home 2 Home Project on Thursday July 25th to see what your financial assistance provided! We are 100% volunteer run and could NOT do this without your help!
