I am fortunate to live close enough to my parents (Donna and John) to visit regularly, bring a gift, go to a movie, or help with an errand. Many elders live without friends or family nearby, and suffer from social isolation as a result. Their loneliness is not only painful to them, but endangers their health and well-being. Help me raise a bit of money for FriendshipWorks to alleviate social isolation among Boston's elders! Thanks!
The Epidemic of Elder Isolation
Social isolation and loneliness hurt the heart and soul of seniors. Elder isolation is now considered an epidemic, with the health dangers equal to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
This is unacceptable. You can lead the way to help end this growing problem in Boston. How?
The Walk to End Elder Isolation is our 4th Annual Walk. We need YOU to make this the best Walk yet. Our ambitious goal is to raise $110,000 to reduce elder isolation in Boston and Brookline.
Form a team, walk in honor or memory of a special elder in your life, or dedicate the walk to an important friendship.
Join us Sunday, May 19 for fun and friendship, music and food, and make a difference in the life of an elder.
