August 18, 2018 will mark the two year anniversary of Dan's death due to Multiple Myeloma; he was 58; the proud father of two great kids, now adults, Sarah and Zachary; the 32 plus year "snuggle bunny" of Heather; and brother to Linda. He had many friends, associates, competitors, family in law, nieces and nephews - he was loving life. Dan struggled with Multiple Myeloma for three years. At times, we thought he had won the battle, and there would be "time", but he tried all the therapeutic avenues available to him, and still Multiple Myeloma won in the end. You'd have to know Dan to know what a competitor he was in all walks of life - he never believed he was beaten. Last year I participated in the Defeat Myeloma 5K accompanied by my sister-in-law, Linda, in honor of Dan and his battle. It's a small but powerful group of people who's lives have been forever touched by Multiple Myeloma. 100% of the money raised by this walk goes only to the research being done about Multiple Myeloma at the Fred Hutch in Seattle led by Dr. Damian Green. There are no strings attached to the money that is raised, other than that it be used to further research of Multiple Myeloma. Linda and I were lucky to attend a fundraisers event with Dr. Green, and were excited and impressed to hear about the strides that his team at the Hutch are making in myeloma research. On June 24, Linda and I will again be doing the 5K - I walk, and she runs! It is in Magnuson Park in Seattle and everyone is welcome to register and accompany us if they like. It would be wonderful if you feel inclined to remember and honor Dan by making a contribution to the team, For Dan. I hope and pray that with the research being done by the Hutch, and other remarkable institutions, that one day no one else will have to lose to this disease. If you can contribute - thank you. If you can't , promise me you think about Dan for a day, that works! I know that we are all asked to contribute one way or the other - just do what you feel you can. I miss Dan! He was gone too soon. With Love H
