It's been almost a year since we lost Claire. It has been a dark year. We could have used her light this year. This world, it needs more Claires. It is hard, sometimes, to hold hope in each other when all we see and hear is so much hatred and so much ugliness. This has been a hard year for women. This has been a hard year for our most vulnerable neighbors. It has been a hard year for the kind of people that Claire spent her life loving and lifting up.
Last year, I decided to make a lifelong commitment to fundraising in Claire's memory. So, for my birthday this year I am once again asking for donations for Sanctuary for Families, an organization that was close to Claire's heart. This fall, along with our former employer PatronManager, Sanctuary for Families established the Claire Randall Fund for Economic Empowerment. Here's how they describe the fund:
Your generous support is an investment in Sanctuary for Families’ work with survivors of domestic violence and is a tribute to Claire’s passion for helping others. Donations to this fund will support the Economic Empowerment Program, which includes education and training that will help survivors of gender violence learn the skills they need to secure living wage jobs and break the cycle of abuse.

As sexual assault has become a nationwide conversation, it's important to remember that most victims of gender violence aren't so visible, and don't always have a network of support. Please consider making a donation to this terrific organization, and help break the cycle of abuse for survivors of gender violence.
