Neeraja Reddy was a phenomenal woman. I knew her as Ammama (Telugu for Grandma), and I miss her every single day. Ammama had the purest and kindest heart, and she was constantly finding new ways to learn about the world around her, whether through books, traveling, conversations with anyone, or spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had an undeniable curiosity and sense of adventure paired with an open mind and heart, and she loved those around her unconditionally.
This year, Ammama's 3 year anniversary of her passing from Cancer falls on the same day as Diwali, November 14. We celebrated Diwali (and still do!) every year, and it is my all time favorite holiday in the year. I would like to honor her memory by supporting American Cancer Society and engaging in a 45 Day Strong challenge. From October 1 to November 14, I will be doing the following: working out for 45 minutes twice a day, 30 minutes of self-help work (i.e., meditation, working on a new skill, reading a book), no alcohol, and a very clean, whole foods, and no added sugar diet with zero cheat days and zero exceptions. Cancer doesn’t stop, so we can't stop fighting for a cure.
I am asking for you to consider making a donation to American Cancer Society, an organization that works tirelessly to find a cure, provides extensive support to people battling Cancer, and creates a community to raise awareness for this horrible disease. Also, please choose just one thing - no matter how big or small - that you can commit to doing every day for the 45 days. This could be making your bed, calling your mom, reading 5 pages of a book - anything - that you can do without any cheat days. Thank you for your support.
